A Song A Day For A Year |
A blog depicting the writing of song after song for 365 days a year. |
Short one this time round, fitting for the subject. This weeks songwriting has been focused around improvisation and digging out the hidden melodies and grooves. Improvisation as taught in Drama has it’s boundaries and the rules should be set before the game begins. At the start of this new week I tried an improv track with my 8-9 friends around me, to some hilarious results.
The songwriting project thus far has been an incredible undertaking. Some songs have soared and some songs have failed to take flight. University has provided me a different environment in which to write in, one where I’m rarely free to sit and think on my own. Which is not necessarily a bad thing! I love my friends and the life I live here, but the past week has proved a decline in songwriting.
With little free time, the songs this week have felt like a drag and it’s such that they don’t reach their goal. Also there are not set lyrics for most the songs as they are improvs, so at a later date I shall come back to these and finish them. This will probably come some time next year as right now I am too busy!!
That’s all for now, as I said shorter than usual, I shall be contacting the Uni about recording very soon so keep your eyes peeled for the seven tracks of January to be judged online by you, my dear listeners :)
